hmm, perhaps she should have checked out the new software EQ apps starting to pop up for touch, iphone and ipad, no question the interface is better and its a more complete package. i still use the iriver with my portable dac because, well it doesnt need another 500 dollar box to get digital output and i absolutely LOVE the remote. battery life with a cameron sino polymer battery upgrade is pretty much unending. i dont use EQ in rockbox, even though its very good, not so much because i'm against it, because i'm not, I use advanced EQ and room correction in mydigital speaker crossover at home, i just find with my setup i dont need it with my portable setup.
the only thing that might displace the 'ihp132cf' is the upcoming fiio X3 DAP, seems to tick all the boxes as far as audio (24/192khz digital out), but we'll see if i can cope without the remote. my rig being the way it is, its great to be able to have it in a coat pocket or manbag and only interact with the remote once ive set volume.
its not just irivers though, it only seems to be devices that are non-standard and require drivers, or playlist managers on the PC that give some trouble in mac os, but these days of course you can run the evils of windows on your mac in parallel. the cf card in my camera is also seen as a mass storage device, i cant ever remember having a problem tbh.
