Was wondering if anyone has been able to compare the headphone out of Luxman class A integrated amps (eg 550A) versus their dedicated headphone amps. I heard the headphone out of the 550A and was impressed.

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

Depends on the dedicated headphone amplifier. I am sure the Luxman can out perform lower-tiered headphone amps, be very comparable to higher priced headphone amplifier and probably be out performed by more expensive headphone amplifiers.
I guess I was thinking their class A amps versus the P-200 and P-1u.

Very nice integrated, i think it would be a little similar to maybe a 160 by Burson.

depends and matter of preferences most likely. usually things like this don't turn out pretty when comparing speaker amps to headphone amps around here.
my personal opinion, who knows. it should do more then fine with any headphone out there with no problem since the headphone out is driven from the same power amp section but with couple of dropping resistors in place. i usually tend to like power amps and integrated amps and receivers more cause if your DIY person the amp can be very versatile since you can always swap resistors or design your own box to be used off the speaker outputs and resistors of your choosing. upside too you can drive speakers as well.
if you like how it sounds then don't worry about it. put on some music and enjoy.
