Turning a B&W center speaker (2 x drivers) into a small sub?

i have an old, but pretty much unused b&w center spear that has two drivers and a tweeter in a cabinet that is just the right size for my needs.

Its passive - would it work as a reasonable sub, if i changed the passive bit for a sub-active powered crossover?

I really doubt that the full-range drivers are going to be able to perform as sub drivers, it's going to sound like crap.

I wouldn't try that, the woofers arn't big enough to make big soundwaves and its more of a tweeter sound. You wont get a good, deep, rumble like you should get with a good woofer.

Er, you need specifically designed drivers for a sub and the cabinet needs to match those drivers.  Modding it would involve buying different drivers and building a new cabinet.

Steps to turning this center channel speaker into a sub:

1) Plug center channel speaker into receiver and use as center channel

2) Buy subwoofer enclosure

3) Buy separate amplifier for subwoofer

4) Buy subwoofer driver

5) Assemble subwoofer
