Looking for portable headphones unamped

Hello. As the title states I am looking for some portables that work well unamped. I'm considering the sennheiser hd 25's, because I hear they sound amazing, block out lots of sound, and look awesome. But I don't know if they need an amp. (My source is an ipod 4th gen) If they do need an amp would the Fiio E5 amp suffice? I don't want to spend a lot because I'd rather spend money on a desktop amp. If there is a better bang for your buck than that mini amp please tell me and if you can inform me of the quality of this amp. thanks.

They sound great with an amp, the HD 25 do not require an amp at all

Every headphone benefits from an amp, so it is up to you to buy the E5

 

The E5 should be enough to power them if u decide to buy them

I could go up to the Fiio E7 but I want to know if it really is not that much better. And after looking at some more amps I decided that If I were to get a cheaper amp, that I would get the E6.

Oh and I like rock (More Specifically my favorite band is The Beatles) and I like Michael Jackson.

I second the comments above regarding the HD25-II above used unamped or with the E5, also worth considering the JDS Labs Cmoy BB, as there are lots of options on the opamp.  However IMO don't overdo it with the amp as The Beatles sound best either without an amp or with the E5 as I have used both to good effect. 

 

I re-cabled my HD25-II with a HD650 balanced lead from Ibasso to partner their PB1 and it is brilliant for Rock, but in the Who/Rolling Stones context, BUT did not sound so good with The Beatles so I took them off that ipod. 

 

My choice for The Beatles and everything else is: ipod classic > graham slee voyager> B&W P5 (closed), and Alessandro MS1i (open) and when u use the bass boost/contour option again fantastic with rock.

 

ipod nano > ibasso PB1 > HD25-II for The Who and The Rolling Stones.

 

The Beatles in Mono is my favorite also.
