[RESOLVED] CD ripping to lossless settings

Hey All, I am a little bit confused about the maximum quality that I can/should rip a CD. Most CDs (if not all) are 44.1kHz/16bit right? Does that mean that I will get no change in quality if I rip to 96/24 (or somewhere in between). I don't even know if that is possible, but so far I have been using itunes to create 44.1/16 files, is this the max? Thanks for reading, just bear with me and, if you feel like writing a rude comment, remember that at one point in time you didn't know the answer...

Rip your CDs to lossless files (ALAC, FLAC) with the same bit depth and sampling rate (16/44.1) as the CD.

Regular CDs output format is 16/44.1, and you should rip to a matching format, ideally some form of lossless, be it FLAC, ALAC or some other format. Ripping to higher output format settings will only create bigger files with no quality gain whatsoever.

Thank you. That was my instinct, because there is no gain from using lossless (no matter how great your sample rate is), only a lack of loss (obviously). Question resolved, I hope that this thread will help others.
