CalyxDAC +External Battery

Hello All, first post, thought I would share a tip for all the Calyx DAC owners -I read the reviews of the Calyx plus Kingrex PSU, and it sounded like a good idea to supply Calyx externally, but did'nt want to spend AUS$400+ for the Kingrex. Looked around the nets and found Bixmart.com -Got a 5V re/chg. Lithium Ion battery pack ( designed for portable dvd players etc. ) Max. output current is a huge 3A !!! even more than the Kingrex PSU ( 2.5A )

Noticeable gain across the sonic spectrum- sounds just drip out of the speakers now - like warm honey ! Have'nt run it flat yet but estimate it will easily last 6-7 hours, same as battery life of my HP 110 Netbook (Win7,Foobar2000ks )

       Bixmart.com =  BX 5500 (product code)

PS :Steve from Wicked Digital (AUS ) told me that Calyx will soon be releasing their own PSU for the DAC - no details yet

PPS: the Calyx is a real Gem !!!

Hello Michael, interesting you found this battery as I was planning on using one too after I got the DAC...you beat me to it. A question for you though...the adaptor tips that came with the battery do not fit well into the Calyx....did you get a differant tip and if so which one...I could measure it all out but thought if you already did this I could just order one from BIX. Thanks in advance Russ

Hi,The cable that came with the BIX works fine but I went  to my local electronics store and bought a couple of plugs that were closest in size and made up a cable app. 6 inches in length.

The fit is a bit loose, but I've had no trouble so far - I'd suggest that you take your Calyx to the store so you get the best fit- hope you are enjoying the Calyx as much as I am-Just got a pair of ex-demo Sonus Faber Auditor M's and could'nt be happier with the sound I now have!

All the best , Michael...
