titanium hd distortion after seeking through tracks in foobar

I'm finding that when I skip around to find a certain part of a track in Foobar, that after enough seeking the audio becomes tinny and heavily distorted. Sounds very metallic and kind of like I'm under water. It only goes back to normal after a reboot. Audio creation mode, 44.1khz 16 bit. Using Wasapi or ASIO makes no difference. Neither does switching from PAX drivers to Official Creative. Thanks for any ideas. Win 7 Ultimate x64 is my OS.

Anyone have some ideas? Thank you.

Does that happen with all file formats or with a specific track? And does it happen on all modes? I'm not saying that you should use a different mode, but you should switch them around.

Also, what is the output method you're currently using, and corresponding buffer length settings?

The official drivers you're using are the ones that came with the card?

So far just lossless, no MP3 that I can remember. No specific track. Only used Audio Creation so far, bit matched. Default buffer, the drivers are May 2011 Creative beta and Pax Titanium HD 1.60 drivers.

So it only happens with FLACs but not with MP3 files? And the latest final drivers dated February 2011 display a similar behavior? What output method are you using, DS, WASAPI or ASIO?

As I mentioned in my first post, I have used WASAPI and ASIO thus far. If Pax 1.60 and Creative Beta May 2011 both have the problem, I should give the Feb official driver a shot. I'll report back later.

I ask which output method you're using because different methods handle buffer differently. Also, try both different file formats and different players. If I remember it right, PAX 1.60 are based on those May 2011 beta drivers, so do report on the latest final official drivers then.

OK, I have been using the official drivers from Feb 2011 and it was fine until today. Now I am getting terrible crackling in Youtube videos. I JUST rebooted and it is literally doing it again and is even worse. Can anyone recommend an external sound device that is great for music and movies, but won't pose any problems for gaming? I might just make a separate post, I've been wanting to move my audio outside the case anyway. Thanks.

I'm starting to think you should consider RMA your card since it seems to be faulty, as that behavior isn't normal in any software configuration. The card itself is a great performer, but you might've had the bad luck of getting a faulty one.

Still, did you change modes? That can help fix things due to resetting the card.
