Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread - Page 372

Good stuff, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on a bargain.

Amazon.de looks to be the cheapest to the UK then.

Just received my IE80s from bhphoto and they do seem to be a tad veiled, compared to my se535 reds. They do sound fun to listen to though, and I think I would keep them as a complement.

Hi! I'm thinking of buying the IE80's but I'm not sure if I my SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4GB Black or my Samsung Galaxy S5 are capable of supporting the sound of the IE80's. Do I need something extra or what do I need to play these headphones to their full potential without it costing me hundreds of dollars?

IE80 and IE8 are pretty efficient and sound great directly out of a DAP - amp not really needed.

Thanks, I was starting to get very worried.

they are very efficient and will do great with your galaxy 5, even better with an IPhone 5s

Interesting you should say that. Have you heard both phones? In what way would you say the 5s is better?

The iPhone have the better Dac, same signature as the Dac/ Amp Beyerdynamic A200p. Beautifull clean sound with more dynamic than the Samsung, which my sisters husband have, it is not really bad but for my taste the iPhone 5s is better, more musical and realistic rhythm. There is an eq on board which i use only with my Grado GR10, with the IE80 you can let the Eq off.

I find the IE8 sounds much more balanced with a dip at 100hz. I had vaguely thought of the A200p. Sounds like there would not be much point.

I agree, but have only compared the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 5.  The iPhone 5 was hands down a better source.

Not when you use the iPhone 5s, I use the A200p on my Samsung tablet, there it makes sense, as it is an upgrade you really can hear.

No phone can get close to a proper High-Res DAC player, like Fiio X3. Worth every penny. If you do not want to spend 160 pounds/200 dollars for it, X1 is coming out soon, and will be a bit cheaper. X3 is the best player I have ever had. Way better SQ than 'flagship' phones.

what you feed your IE80 with will always have an impact, but for having bought mostly really picky IEMs(I hate myself for that), I also find the IE80 to be enjoyable from almost any source(as long as you don't hear too much hissing).

I won't argue about that Bestula, but many want to stream their music and that is not possible by most music players. With my iPhone i can stream Wimp in the best possible audio quality, and have plenty of choice in Avant- prog rock from all the great labels like Cuneiform, and some i download from IMusic if not avaiable on Wimp. Downloading Hi-res recordings is very expensive, mostly 20 Euro and more pro cd, and to me it is simply not worth it, as Wimp comes very close in absolute soundquality. If however a Fiio x7 might come with wlan and the possibility to stream i might buy one, for now i stick with my IPhone.

I am not into streaming, I listen mostly Flac files...
IE80 do sound good with Iphone and easy to drive them with any average source on ejoyable level. (But sq noticeably improves with better source.)
