Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread - Page 361

Or the se315 for that matter? About $200...

There are many Asian manufacturers makeing IEMs nowadays. I would assume that many of them could offer something similar in value/SQ. But the research does take time and effort. I for one am curious how Dunu DN 2000 will sound given the good impressions on DN1000s. Some others like Astrotex AX60 and Japanese ones like Ocharaku and Ortofon. Haven't heard them but seem to offer similar tier products. There are really a lot of IEMs coming out both in lower/mid tier and higher end customs.

Here's my opinion on the ThemercantileTx.com site

Do not buy from them!!!!!!!!!!!!

I placed an order April 20, 2014 and I never received my product.
I contacted the site and each time he meets me:" you will receive your order next week."

Another buyer at the same mishap me, he lives in Allemangne and he never received the order.

I think I lost my money.
Since May 1, they meet me.
Frankly, I do not know how to recover my money. I live in France and I do not know very well the U.S. laws.
Our banks do not cover this type of scam.

Amazon has them listed them around 379.99 USD, but on Newegg Marketplace there are different vendors listing them at $159.99 along with some site called "The Mercantile TX" which seems reputable.  I know this is a commonly counterfeited headphone..is it even worth messing with these lower priced offerings?

I really would like to ensure that I get the two year warranty...I know with camera gear you regularly see "grey market" items that sell for less but do not have a factory honored warranty, not sure if that applies here or not.

Thanks!

Is there a hybrid eartips that will fit the IE80? I dont like the eartips that came with it. Foam tips from comply would be great but are there any hybrids?

I use the comply tips, not only on my IE80, but their not every body's taste. Due to my job, I did wear earprotection, so I am used to this Kind of foam, secure fit,and better isolation.

from my own experience with these on my IE80.. the seal isn't as good as stock. they are also stiffer and taller, so the drivers are just slightly further from your canal.. which is a matter of preference if you like the sound not as close. i've since switched back to stock tips until i find something better.

Did you buy from a third party seller? If yes, take the refund - these are probably fake.

Sibilant would describe not only prominent but also distorted treble and highs for what I know. So, if it's really sibilant, they may be not fully burned in, or maybe they are defective.

If it is really only too much treble for you, then I'd ask if you have tried out different tips, since the tips make a significant difference (to my ears). Usually I find the larger space the tips create, the more treble I'll get.

You should decide whether to return them or not. Amazon is always generous in customer service. If they are really not to your liking, just return them and you've earned a reference point for your sound signature preference.

what i think they meant was that.. yes.. you got them from amazon, but third party resellers can also go through amazon. if your order was "fulfilled by amazon", then good chance that they are authentic. but if it was by a different company that fulfilled your order, then they might be fake.
