If you guys wanna discuss this stuff, you should do it in PMs. :P

Sorry, guess the suspense of no new news on the IE80s hasn't helped. Started from the North pole and went to the Equator ;)

Looks like the enclosures are still plastic with a brushed aluminum insert.  That will definitely change the sound over just the pure plastic housings.

I wish the bass dial actually took care of all the midbass too.

ie8 - all that unnecessary midbass = sex

I got my ie8 cables stuck on someone's bag in the subway in Montreal... for a second, I thought the person was snatching them, so I shoved that person... Oops :S, let's just say the man was not happy

If it wasn't so expensive to live in New York, I would 've moved there.

Indeed. The W4 lacks the gargantuan mid-bass hump.

I disagree in other areas. Specifically in the treble, mids, bass, soundstage, fit, isolation, etc. Totally different earphones. :D

^I can't speak about the treble and bass for IE8 vs W4,but the fit and isolation are vastly different. And isolation makes a huge difference in how a sound signature is perceived.

Fixed equation:

IE8 - midbass hump - ugly high mid boost = W4 + treble extension + subbass - mid detail

The soundstaging matches too in fact, give or take 1 meter depth. Pity W4's lack the general extension both ways, they'd be nigh perfect otherwise.

Fit is actually pretty similar to me and isolation depends a lot on the tips. IE8 do lose a bit though, some 3-6 dB depending on tips - W4 can be used with very deep tips like Comply P.

Thanks bud, but we can't see it unless we have an account there too. How about you just copy and paste your post here?

That's strange? It's in the Member's gear section under Maniacal's playthings.

IE80

Anyway here it is, still in the process of burning in.

No initial impressions? And where did you acquire them from and how much? Are they a pre-release, or the final?
