Vsonic GR04 Pro Flagship Review (yes that really is its name) - Page 8

well the GR04pro is likely to be nearer to the 7 overall id think

I'm in Beijing and did a quick search on taobao.com for vsonic gr04 that shows that "true" flagship editions, with the 50 ohm impedence, are the ones labeled R04 PRO on the bud itself. Basic versions do NOT have the PRO labeling on the bud.

Prices for normal versions are at 199 rmb, $32.

Prices for the "true" flagship edition are 339 rmb, $55.

Thanks, guys, for all the other information. Could any of you that made reviews clarify what label your buds have on it?

Mine were the flagship, we discussed this, and the impedance a few pages back

Actually, I didn't see a clear explanation for the ear bud label having "R04PRO" on it, and thought this would be a quick, distinctive way to let people know they're purchasing the Flagship model.

A lot of local resellers here sell boxes that say Flagship and/or 50 ohm, while putting the lesser versions inside.

Well, to answer your question the Gr04 flagship has R04PRO on it but I have no idea how all the other versions look. After the price of the flagship edition dropped that much I doubt there are a lot of sellers trying to give you the old version in a new books just to get a few bucks but things on the Asian market could be different.

Thanks for the clarification on having the proper item, but I wish you had written your own review : )

Advice-seeking: I'm not a bass head but listen to hip hop (50%), rock (25%) and various female vocals (25%) while traveling around the city. I'm staying away from the VC02 and think the GR04 Flagship is still warmly balanced and more suitable than the overly-warm(?) GR06's. What're your experiences and thoughts on such music?

Though I'm loving their GR02 Regular and Bass Edition, the resellers here and even the Vsonic company aren't the most honest in my experience.

Well, I'm usually pretty lazy to write reviews but I have a couple of shorter comparisons between the Gr06, Gr02 BE and Gr04 flagship. I might look for them tomorrow to give you links if you haven't found them. As I've mentioned before I still consider the Gr04 flagship better than the Vc02. It's a very good iem overall but with less of a wow factor. Purely for female vocals I would still stick to the Gr02 BE or maybe the new silver edition. The Gr04 flagship is slightly mid-forward and warm - less than the Gr06 and has smooth and non-fatiguing mids and highs. It does however, have a tighter and more impactful bass. Even though the Vc02 is a tad more neutral and balanced I still think the Gr04 is very versatile and handles more genres better - strangely, it's also easier to drive than the Vc02.

Thanks a lot to other reviewers and you. The comment about the GR04 having tighter and more impactful bass is what I wanted to know.

The GR04 is 10 dollars less than the GR06 currently, but seems better for my needs and in other reviews. I found a suitable reseller and will be placing an order soon. Now I just hope these will keep me interested longer than the GR02s' 7 months.

my gr06 died and i want to try out these gr04 pro

shame that the 'discount' price is not available to australia. cheapest here is ~$86, lendmeurears $53 only applies to US customers.

might give me the vc02 a go instead

Yeah, they probably sold out their stock and they only have Gr04 left in their US warehouse. I actually expected this to happen months ago as the Gr04 was discontinued and that's why it was only 50 bucks.

well a vc02 review is  coming but is prob a couple weeks away

Only a handful of stores on China's Ebay, taobao.com, carry the GR04 FEs. None of the stores in Beijing's famous Zhongguancun Electronics market have it, nor the GR06s anymore. Only GR07s in a couple of versions.

i purchased mine last friday through ebay with lendmeurears

can't wait to try them on

i thought it would be fun to see how burn-in affects these. it's not. they suck in the beginning, and are only better after 50-100 hours.

all the previous reviewers' notes were pretty spot on about the sound. i would add that these headphones have great accurate sound, but i don't really feel a lot of joy listening to them over long periods of time. think 70% technical to 30% musical, whereas i prefer it the other way around. i guess it is why they labeled it the "pro". i probably need Vsonic's "bass" labeling.

i just got mine today

right out of box they sounded amazing for its price

but i do feel that this iem is little bit mid-centric

i am burning them in right now i hope bass and treble start kicking in more
