Beats by Dre trying to take a stab at the HD 25? (Pics inside)

I noticed some pretty suspicious headphones today while I was watching David Guetta's behind the scenes video.

(The part we'll be talking about is at 2:40)

And I noticed he brought up the Beats prototypes. Now, call me crazy, but when I saw those swiveling headphones, all I could think about were the Sennheiser HD 25's with their unique low-profile size and swivel. Plus, that little swiveling "bump" for lack of a better term and what I presume to be the exposed, removable cable at the side remind me of the ones on the HD 25. Granted, there isn't a splitting headband, but here are some pics for comparison.

Am I overreacting or could this be a potential "competitor" for the HD 25?

Oh no. Oh god no. Please don't let them do this. An article about "hi fidelity earphones" quoting Beats by Dr. Dre by the BBC is bad enough. It hurts me to see this stuff.

Desperately trying to find it but it seems to have disappeared! I will look through my history from my other comp tomorrow. It was all about how students are spending more on hi-fidelity earphones such as the ones supplied by Dr. Dre. Also how Dr. Dre wants to give great sound quality to everyone and that it should be sacrificed with cheaper earphones. A load of bogus to be honest, because Dr. Dre are the biggest hypocrites in the industry.

Here's the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/9565041.stm

Do you guys have any ideas on if that's a potential stab at the HD 25 or not?

Could be, but they've done it the other way around, instead of splitting the headband they've split the part that connects to the cups.

Interesting... I'd assume that that would cause some complications with swiveling too hard or something. Then you'd have an awkwardly dangling earpiece for a few seconds. At least with the HD 25's, it's impossible to remove the earcup with the cable still connected, alleviating that issue.

the HD25´s cost about half of the beats flagship headphones and can rip them.

The only way they can compete is heavy publicity and user ignorance.

Then again. whoever buys a monster product is either ignorant or dosnt actually care about sound quality.

There are a lot of owners of the monster turbine series that would take offense to that with myself being one of them. That statement you made is calling me both ignorant and saying I don't care about sound quality. All you have to do is look at my signature and judge for yourself if I care about sound quality. Do monster make some crappy products? Yes they do. But not all of their products are crappy. And to make a statement to include everything they make and everyone who's bought any of their products is wrong. And to go even further to call these same people ignorant is definitely uncalled for.

Geez, another set of Beats headphones? Taking a shot at the HD-25? Ha. That's rather silly if I say so myself.

Agreed. I love my Miles Davis! Plenty of people here are knowledgeable, care about sound quality, and own something from the Turbine/Miles Davis line.

And now as I walk around I'll have people asking me why my headphones look like the Beats. Which is just adding on to how often people ask why I didn't buy Beats.

His use of the brand name Monster is incorrect. I slated Beats by Dr. Dre, not Monster. I know Monster make some real nice earphones such as the Turbines and the Miles Davis Tribute, so I wasn't going to comment on them. Frankly, I'd love to own a pair.

However, Beats By Dr. Dre is a disgraceful line of products. All it is doing is devaluing the entire meaning of "high quality sound".
