Newbie looking for an amp(solid) for Denon D7000 around $1000

Hi guys,

I'm new here but I have been playing head-fi for 3 years.I come from China and arrived in NYC 2 weeks ago.

I'm looking for an headphone amp for D7000(haven;t bought yet,but it's in my plan) with my Northstar USB DAC32.

I have read some threads and seems Violectic V200 will be one of the best choices? Maybe GS-1 and HA-160 will not fit to my taste as I prefer smooth sound to powerful one.

And I'm wondering what's the difference between V200 and V181,will V181+D7000 balanced be a better choice as V200 do not have balanced output?

I will really appreciate if you have other recommendations and my budget will be around $1000 for headphone amp.(Used item is acceptable for me)

Welcome to America, NYC isn't always as wet as at the moment.

I'm very happy using a Crown D-75A with my D7000's.  List price for the Crown is $1000 but I found mine for $600 from Sweetwater.  There are so many amplifier choices that it is hard to pick one.

Seems SPL Auditor/Phonitor would be a good choice too

Either the Gs-1 or the V200 will do a very good job, they both are extremely solid performers. BTW, the D7000 is a very sensitive headphone, you don't need much power to get it sing.
