Hi all,
New to the forums but you've all still successfully talked me into purchasing the TripleFi 10's. I've been reading here for a while now and all the discussions on these 'phones were spot on. They sound really good! I'm loving my introducton to this world after upgrading from the SuperFi 4's. As many have said, the cable is on its way to the grave and I'm building a DIY cable setup now. What I'd like to know (in order of most importance):
I'm doing this DIY project because I am not interested in paying $120 for a cable I can make much cheaper myself. I am fairly comfortable with doing these types of projects but can't find clear wire. I guess I'll keep looking.
Thank you very much.

They sound really good! I'm loving my introducton to this world after upgrading from the SuperFi 4's. As many have said, the cable is on its way to the grave and I'm building a DIY cable setup now. What I'd like to know (in order of most importance):
- Is there a such thing as >24 awg stranded silver (pure or OFC/Au plated) with clear teflon coating? It's ok if its not teflon, but I'd like a clear wire that's not going to oxidize green.
- I found some black 34awg stranded OFC wire. Is this too small to drive the TripleFi's? Too likely to break? Any reason why I should choose a bigger wire?
- Au plated wire doesn't oxidize green under any of your clear wires, right?
- How do people manage the Y split in their cable? I don't see many good suggestions for this on the Internet and don't know if there's a best way to do it.
- To those who own IEMs, do you like plain cable coming out of from the headphones, or do you prefer some sort of heat shrink/memory wire around your ears?
I'm doing this DIY project because I am not interested in paying $120 for a cable I can make much cheaper myself. I am fairly comfortable with doing these types of projects but can't find clear wire. I guess I'll keep looking.
Thank you very much.
