Yeps. I need to compare both of them. I might be able to get one of them online after all.

I need the headphones of my prefered choice to be comfortable. XB700 clearly wins because of the large pads.

Isolation. Nope, I don't need it to isolate me totally from the outside world. Just enough to shelter me from the irritating traffic.

Sound Quality. The MOST important part. Bass. I feed on it. Not muddy ones, not lose ones, but tight, powerful and impactful ones. High quality. Top-notch. The vocals should not be hidden behind the bass. Well, about the bass, I am used to hear muddy bass so the impactful ones...not sure if I will be used to it but I know i love bass so yeah.

Even though I am MOST likely to get e XB700, I still wanna compare.

Do you think that you could get used to tight bass?

I'm really not sure. When I first bought my earphones, I take a step down on bass and was pretty frustrated but eventually get used to it.

I think that if you heard some good, quality bass that you would get used to it. Have you used the search thread on these two headphones? I have never heard either one of them, but some of the other threads may have some good information on them.

Yeah. I found XB700 in one of the shop near where I'm living so I will probably pick that up. Still, I want to hear opinions about them. I searched the threads and found information but I wanna hear more opinions.

Well, I don't think I'm getting Denon. I am thinking of HD 428. I'm not sure to get that or what. I just don't like bass that is OVERWHELMING and the mids are hiding behind it. I like the vocals to be clear, well, I can forgo a LITTLE bit of the clarity though. If I EQ XB700 to the Treble side will it help?

Marshall Major vs Sennheiser HD428 vs Sony XB700

Again, the criteria for the first post. But bass must NOT be too overwhelming and plus mids must not be hidden behind bass. And which sounds best unamped.

All of these headphones will sound fine unamped. I don't want to recommend any of these since I have not heard any of them. Other Head-fi members should chime in soon, I do know that some of the members have had experience with the XB700 and the HD428.

XBs are bassier than the HD428.

HD438s are bassier than the HD428 so you might want to look into that.

The HDs are very comfortable too, but they lack clamping force, which may be good or bad, depending on preference.

What kind of bass are we talking here? DnB/Dub or Arctic Monkey/RHCP ?

I get that they are completely different headphones but because these are headphones that I can buy easily near my place. And, my budget is $200 at most. And this is in SGD. Bass, I think, I don't like bass that goes TOO low, deep, muddy, loose but yeah. Not overwhelmingly much. Enough to put a smile on anybody's face.

Ugh i don't know why my iPad cannot edit my previous post this time, I tried and I can't. That's why I resort to posting again. I am mainly using the headphones to listen to Rock.

Songs like...Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance, Fireworks / Teenage Dreams by Katy Perry and the likes. Old songs, but I still love 'em xD

If your main genre is rock, then you need to look at Grado headphones. They can be had for under $100. They normally don't have impactful bass, but they will make your rock sound realistic and alive.
