I once owened a pair of hfi-780s and found them pretty good, will probably be getting an ed 8 soon, after my wallet has recovered from a big DAC layout.

a proud owner of Ultrasone signing in

i've been liking ultrasone since my dj1 pro is my first "serious" headphone, i've tried and had a lot of other headphone from low to high end, but it never convince me enough to let go off my ultrasone.. there is something special in the sound signature that i can't get from other headphone.. and the fact that i'm originally a pure bass head makes me love it even more..

anyway , i just doing some reacble mod to my pro 2900,, i'll be back with some picture..
thanks for the thread,, we ultrasone freak really need this..

after i compare them both,, i think basically because its the natural upgrade of the pro 2500.. its got the neutrality and balance of the pro 2500 and the fun factor+ detail retrieval of the pro 900,, it also do midrange better than the 2500,, smoother and more forgiving of bad recording. i think there's a reason why ultrasone discontinued the pro 2500 after pro 2900 was released... more people should give the pro 2900 a try..

In my opinion, the pro2900 are more detailed, but the pro 900 are slightly more fun.post #81 of 19409/5/11 at 7:44am- colmustard

yup i think so too, thats why i said that its like a cross between the pro 2500 (which is more on the neutral side) and the pro 900, the pro 2900 bass is clearer than pro900 that result in better transparency and detail..- HeatFan12

Thanks Roller...
Thanks for the link and upon translation it seems to fill a gap within the PRO and Ed. series. Interesting indeed...
Well, my Ultrasone journey was a bit different since I wanted to make it full circle with no "what ifs'. My first Ultrasone purchase was the PRO900s right when they came out (and I was hooked) and my last Ultrasone purchase was the Ed.9s...Within that time, I purchased all Ultrasones in between (at that time) until the Ed.9s (Ed8s & Ed10s were not out yet). Yes, when I say I loved their signature, I really loved their signature...lol
Hence the fan club thread...I am an Ultrasone freak....It goes beyond the signature of the headphone. I can listen to my Ed.9s then swap out to the HFI-680s and still enjoy them. They all bring something different to the table. I also own other brands (Senn, Grados, Denon, Beyer, AT) but the "Sones have that special "give it to me" attitude with any genre I throw at it.

Sheep skin headband ? The price is said to be below 10,000 HKD which is about 1300 USD.

Your collection is... impressive. I wouldn't mind at all grabbing a few more Ultrasones, as their sound is somewhat unique, even if its particular flavor doesn't appeal to everyone. But tell me something, how do you find your Ed. 9s sound compared to the Pro 900s?
And aside from the slightly odd look of Ed. headband and strange cups that seem to have glass in it (?), it being a stop gap between Pro series and Ed. series does sound great, perhaps akin to what Beyerdynamic is doing with their T70/T70p.
Unrelated to the above, I do think Ultrasone should lower both the price of the Pro 2900s, as well as the price of the balanced version of the Pro 900s.

Its not a google translater fail or anything, the signature pro does have glass on the cups, according to the article
post #90 of 19409/6/11 at 6:47pmHey guys,
Where is the best place to order Ultrasone HFI 2400?
Amazon ships it immediately, $300.00, but it's only fulfilled by Amazon, and sold by Pavillion Electronics.
http://www.amazon.com/ULTRASONE-HFI-2400-Professional-Open-Back-Headphones/dp/B002W37ESY
DJDeals.com appears to ship it immediately, however I have never heard of them. $258.00
http://www.djdeals.com/ultrasoneHFI2400.htm
BHPhotoVideo sells it for $260, but it takes 7-14 business days to ship.
Are there any other retailers I should be considering?
