Very nice re-cable on the Ed8's.  Mine remain stock as I use them in my portable setup.  Out of curiosity, which of your amps mates up best with the Ed8?

Thanks,

I could not stand the stock cable.  For portable use I guess it's cool but for anything else the cable was just to short.

I like them best with the Balanced CK²III after that I'll say the B22

Yeah there's a range of tolerances between production examples, but I don't think on a single model Ultrasone has consistency issues (in other words, the left driver doesn't match the right driver at all) - you'll always have that range of tolerances though. It's probably very narrow (I would guess 2 dB or less), but it will exist. I don't think Ultrasone does in-production revisions without changing the model # though, like for example they changed stuff on the PRO2500, and we got the PRO2900, they didn't just say "new and improved PRO2500" (or even worse, not tell anyone).

So does anyone think its worth getting the pro900 when you already have the hfi2400?

I don't know about the 900, but I would say the 2900 - yes its worth getting. My understanding is that 900 has the same Ti drivers, but is much bassier. So I would expect it to be crisper/faster sounding, like the 2900, at least.

Loving my HFI-580's more and more every day! Positioning them on my head is a bitch though.

Have you read the "Unofficial Owner's Guide" thread yet?

I did yeah. I can get the sweet spot easily but the cups press against my ears which gets uncomfortable after a while. But not a huge issue at all.

Is anyone using the Schiit Asgard with the HFI-780?

I'm thinking of re-purchasing the HFI-780 since my last unit was faulty 18 months ago.

Since then, I have not found a closed headphone that sounds like my DT1350, as the HFI-780 does. It's a really special headphone for the price.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

HFI-780 sounds like DT1350?

Yes, in my opinion, it does. They both have a sparkly treble, forward mids, and deep bass, HFI-780 actually is better in the bass department but both have a similar, energetic, fun, sound signature.

I use my DT1350 everyday on my travels. I simply love it's signature. The HFI-780 is the closest, full size, around the ear headphone I have heard similar to the DT1350.

I should also mention I have the Pro 900 too (for sale in forums). I find the mids far too recessed and the signature boring, lacking the excitement of both the Beyer and HFI-780.

I also have the T1, but it's an open headphone which i cannot use most of the time; plus I enjoy the bass on the DT1350 and HFI-780 more.

I'm thinking of buying the Schiit Asgard and again the HFI-780.
