Awesome SoulSyde...And I thought I was the only one enjoying the PRO750s.  Most folks jump right to the 900s.....Great to hear....Great pics as well....Like I previously stated, every Ultrasone brings something different to the table.

Agreed, and thanks.  Having Demo'd the 900s against the 750s I found a negligible different in performance and I couldn't justify the extra expense of the 900s at the time. I have absolutely no buyer's remorse.  Having moved up from the Pro 650s I couldn't be happier!

Cool thats what Ive been wanting to hear, I dont want to drop another $350 for 900s when I can get 750s for close to $220. Is it true they go a little higher but also less low than the 900 (thats kind of what i'm looking for)?

The 900s are certainly for bass-heads (which I kind of am), but a pair of 750s with a nice amp (Arrow 12HE with bass boost setting #1, or a DigiZoid ZO) is fine.

The thing I didn't like about the 900s was that they sounded a little more laid back than the 750s which was already too close to the HD 600 sound signature, which I had also owned at the time.

Both are great headphones and are very close.  With more expendable money I may or may not have bought the 900s, but the 750s are great, great, great in their own right.

There's always something better than what you already own or can afford.  I've learned to buy the best I can within my budget and be happy.

Good luck with your decision.

Hey everyone,
I'm planning to buy the PRO 550's (as opposed to the DJ1 Pro version) tomorrow. Any big fans of the PRO 550 or the DJ1 Pro? Or, can anyone say if the HFI 680 or HFI 580/DJ1 would be better for me? I listen to a wide variety of music, essentially all but classical and country, though my main genre is rock. I like good bass, not insane thumps but strong, balanced bass.

As of right now my intention is to buy the PRO 550's. Any reason I should go for the HFI 680 or HFI 580/DJ1 instead? I plan to drive them from my smartphone (music is 256 kbps Rhapsody downloads) and my laptop (Dell XPS M1530).

Thanks; this thread seems the best place for Ultrasone advice!

You finally found us huh

. You should be happy there are not huge differences here all in the same class. Any reason you went pro550 over dj1 pro since price is about the same?

2 week update:

Loving my HFI-580. Hasn't left me wanting MORE like the ATH-M50 has.

This might actually delay my Pro 900 purchase - my wallet says YES!

I think getting the Pro's is inevitable if you love 580..
It's not like it is 5 times better than 580 but it is a worthwile upgrade if you can find them cheap and not pay 500 bucks..

PRO 550 is about 3 bucks cheaper where I'm buying them and, given that they're now white/silver like the DJ1 Pro, they look pretty similar. I actually like the fact that the 550 doesn't say "DJ1" on it because I personally think that looks a little... tacky. I mean it's not a big deal, I just think the 550 overall looks a little better and is (negligibly) cheaper. Glad to hear I'll be happy with my purchase (pun absolutely intended).
