It seems plenty loud to me already.

Interesting...  I've never really heard anyone say that about the 7236 (makes the WA22 louder, not better). It's true, the WA22 does go a bit louder but it also adds dynamics to the mix - especially bass impact. I basically have every 6AS7 variation (for the WA22), and by far the 7236 is my favorite (especially price/performance ratio).  I'd really be surprised if you didn't like the 7236 (and found it only made the WA22 go louder and not better). Also, you should consider the TS5998, as they mate well with the LCD-2.

You like the 7236 better than GEC 6AS7G?  That is a surprise to me...

Actually the 7236s increase the output power from around 600-800mW to 1.5W....and more power = better sound (not necessarily louder). I just can't go back to 6080 or 6AS7 power tubes with my WA22. I've got 3 pair of 7236 Sylvanias, 1 pair of 7236 Tung-Sols and 1 pair of 5998 Tung-Sols (slightly more power and gain than even the 7236).

All things considered, I do. I saw Skylab's post for his GEC 6AS7G right after he posted it.  I won't purchase another pair (and his were cheap compared to what we paid). To me the GEC 6AS7G is slightly better. However, at $60 a pair for the 7236, I get more enjoyment out of them. You can also use them with HD800 and LCD-2. Where the GEC 6AS7G, based on your comments are really only suited with the HD800.  I also think source components has an impact on how tubes sound as well. This might be the reason I like them as well.
