...or DT880 closed back, a thing with many names http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/424842/beyerdynamic-dt880-closed-back
I have decided to sell that DIY 600 ohm Beyer. I've had lots of fun with it in the last 2 years, but I've moved so deeply into to vintage ortho corner that just one dynamical can is sufficient for me - and although they are absolutely on par, I have a stronger bondage to my pimped MS Pro, as I'm still "Mr. MS1000". However, I'm not the collector's type, what doesn't get used regulary gets given away, and that principle gets applied here one more time.

The systems alone have costed 100€ at the Beyer onine spare parts store, I doubt that you will be able to get your hands on a 600 ohm Beyer for less money. When you remove the mod's inner sealing and put again the DT880 pads onto it, you can reconvert it into a standard DT880'600 as well (which has a wider soundscape, more treble, colder mids and less bass). For those who haven't read about this mod, this can is an incredible sounding mixture between the Beyer and the Senn house sound with a rich and warm sound signature. Think of a DT990'600 with stronger and warmer mids and slightly tamed upper end. I'd say it actually fits better to electronica, pop and related than to Mahler and the singer/songwriter fraction. And yes, I don't smoke and I don't have pets.
Specs:
Housings and frame is taken from the Superlux HD660 (the DT770'2005 lookalike), the housings were opened, modified and got some eyecandy in form of bubinga inlays. Pads are original black DT770s, they are still clean and firm, only the fixation rings have aged slightly. As mentioned, you get the good Beyer DT880 600 ohm systems. Cable is different from the pics above, I've taken that awful onesided coated beast off, as it was too heavy and always caused a strange wearing feel. It actually has approx. 1,5 m microphone cable from Thomann, which is leaded twosided and equipped with a 6,3mm Neutrik plug. The Y-splitter is DIY out of epoxy compound and looks at least acceptably.
