Hi! So how did the mini meeting go? What are the impressions, results and who is the winner? :) (or did I miss it somewhere)?

I read the whole thread (uff..) and... I little bit changed my mind from thinking about the HRT music streamer to thinking about the Anedio D2 :P Well I guess there is not anything new (and better) in this price range (around 1,5K; 2K max), right? It would go to my HD800 (those comments about the great synergy really got me :P ) probably using the D2 amp as it seems really good (comparable even to $1000 standalone amps).

I just want to reassure myself before I pull this kind of money out of my wallet :) Thanks!

^ I understand it didn't go well at all. If you step across to the Lynx Hilo (? or maybe M51) thread, you'll find SoupRKnouva's quick impressions.

I think the group have re-thought and started over, lending their DACs around and working on solo impressions in their own homes and with their own equipment, with impressions to come through the coming weeks...

I actually just sold my D2 to help fund a Turntable rig, the tt/phonostage/cartridge/preamp all added up, and something had to give. So unfortunately the D2 wont be in the more long term impressions that Happy Camper and Preproman will be giving over the next couple months.

That's unlucky - for us I mean. Certainly appreciated what you offered from the 'meet'.

How would you sum up your time with the D2?

(After reading many, many impressions of many, many DACs of different kinds - NOS, battery powered, various passive analog outputs such as transformer and more orthodox - the D2 strikes me as perhaps the strongest bet under $2000).

All the best with your turntable rig - something I plan to get back to in a year or two.

I think it certainly punches above its weight, and i loved every second with it. In short comparisons i could hear no difference between it and the PWDII and the Lynx Hilo. I thought it bested the NAD M51, and the only dac i heard that i thought might be a smidge better is the Audio-GD Master 7, which is what I will plan on getting down the road after I have recovered a bit from the turntable rig purchases, and after ive upgraded my phono stage to the decware ZP3, which is gonna be my next purchase for sure. I did get a Audio-GD NFB-1.32 off the classifieds to tide me over till then though...couldnt go completely dacless

Hey Guys, How much burn in time does the D2 need?

In what way did you think it bested the Nad M51?

^ here is the link to SoupRKnowva's impressions.

Soup, thanks for the follow-up. Guess I'll see you over on the Decware threads beerchug.gif

haha yeah, i ought to start reading the decware appreciation thread...there arent very many impressions or really anything written about the ZP3 almost anywhere on the internet. So ill be keeping my eye out for people that have one. Ive just always wanted a piece of Decware gear and this is the first time Ive been able to fit some into my system

What are your thoughts on this compared to the aforementioned DACs?

I wont be able to say anything for at least a week. I have to wait for the NFB 1.32 to arrive, and then i will also have to wait for my Master 1 to arrive before i will be able to listen to it. Which i dont think will happen till at least next tuesday or wednesday at the soonest. Takes time to ship out and to ship the audio gd gear from china.

Soup, there's two or three head-fiers with the ZP3, though little if anything written about it here. Brief mentions IIRC in either the CSP2 or Taboo threads. Definitely try Decware's forum - an active group for sure.

SoupRKnowva  - Oh I see.. Pitty though that the D2 won't be in the long term comparison :)

I see it the same way (of course just from reading.. not from listening...). So.. I will have to give it a go, I guess :)

Soup and I don't see eye to eye on the D2 vs. Buffalo III.  Happy Camper and I could not tell any difference.  After about a hour Soup said the D2 edged out the Buffalo III biggrin.gif

Happy Camper has the m51 and the Hilo.

I have the Master 7 and the PWD2 (2.2.0).

Impressions to come.

Here is a sneak peak:  Post #877

Sorry to see the D2 gone.  Oh well.  At this price point - they're all pretty much on the same level anyway..  With each one edging out the other in different things.

Haha it was just ever so slight I gave an edge to the D2 Darryl :P maybe if I had had more time I may have come to a different conclusion, who knows.

I'm sad to see the D2 go as well, but that's the march of progress. I can't wait to hear the Hex if you actually end up getting one, I need to hear some of that metrum magic everyone keeps talking about. I was trying to get a quad as my d2 replacement but I guess it wasnt meant to be
