I saw that almost happen a week ago. Four way crowded SF intersection. Everyone heard the siren and stopped their cars except one idiot quickly driving through the intersection almost ramming head on into a fire truck.

BTW, if you drive and use your phone, you should be shot so no one else would be killed because of your stupidity.

Using headphones/iems on the road is inconsiderate.

But I can understand those who wear ear muffs or ear buds to protect their ears from the traffic noise.

What is the difference between wearing circumaural headphones and listening to the radio loudly? I used to have a really loud system in my car and can think of two times when I didn't hear emergency vehicles coming. I think this is a case where it's clearly wrong to listen to music that loudly, but not illegal and impossible to police even if it was. There are a lot of things that are clearly stupid behaviors (eating while driving, riding a bike without a helmet, making yourself monstrously obese, etc) but enforcing a ban on them is impossible, and we should not ask the government to micromanage our lives in this way.

I think you can enjoy things while driving, such as music.  But there is a line, sometimes I see people "jam out" on the freeway, As in shaking their heads and drumming their steering wheel.  Sure maybe the music isn't that loud, but you can't do that.  If you drive you're moving over a thousand pounds of fiberglass and steel.  You should pay attention to the road.  Leisure time is at home or in a safe setting not while driving a weapon.

I was in a bus. Truck next to me, driver was on the phone. He ran the next red light, knocked someone over, a couple of metres down the road.

I didn't get a clear view of what happened, but I heard the boy who got ran over lived.
