Anyone else's girlfriend get annoyed when you wear your headphones/IEMs at home?

Girlfriend, boyfriend, fiance, husband, wife, whatever. I think it started out with with a few times when she was talking to me from behind a wallseperation and after I missed a 3 minute long story and she got annoyed, which I can understand, but now it seems like I get a look every time I even want to put them on to listen to something. Just wondering if this is universal.

...in before someone says get rid of her.

I'm sure your story is not so unique.  I take it by hear her reactions, she is not so supportive of your budding audio hobby?

"Are you listening to me?

I'll just bet you haven't heard a word I've said."

It would annoy me if my girlfriend walked around with headphones on and I would have to repeat everything I said.

yeah I suppose she wants your undivided attention or something.

Yes, my wife does.  However, there are times at the end of my workday when I get home and just want to unwind.  She usually wants to talk instead.  So, I talk to her for a little bit, then put the headphones on.  I don't really put them on in front of her.  If she leaves the room, I put them on and when she comes back - she then makes a comment about our conversation being over.  She can listen to pop music on the car radio without much attachment or passion - even though she likes those songs.  However, I have a passion for the music that I listen to and want to get into what I'm listening to for full enjoyment.

True, but at the same time you and that said girlfriend could work out way that she could still enjoy her audio without it interfering with normal day to day conversations.  Open-backed headphones perhaps?
