What is IEM sound presentation a function of?

This is more of a large curiosity than a need to know but I'd really appreciate if anyone knew.

What are things like soundstage, instrument seperation, layering, imaging, positioning etc a function of in IEMs? The drivers? The sound chamber size/shape? The tuning, and if so, how are they tuned?

I hope this post is in the right forum.

Instrument separation is how clear you can hear the sound of each individual instrument (ie/not mashed up).

Soundstage is the "liveliness of the sound." If the soundstage is good, it's like an orchestra performing right in front of you live.

That's how I see it wink.gif

For the drivers, is it the type of drivers you're interested?

I think my question was confusing, I guess I meant, how do they make some IEMs do these things better than others. Thanks for attempting to answer my badly worded question.
