Yes, I believe both support an on-the-fly playlist feature.

 

- Can you delete songs from it without using a computer? (I was surprised that my Sonys could not do this.)
Yes you can in both Zip OS and Rockbox.

Thanks. Maybe most come formatted as FAT32, but SDXC cards (meaning >32 gb) come as exFAT.

 

From wikipedia:

 

"SDXC cards are pre-formatted with Microsoft's proprietary and patented exFAT file system, which the host device might not support. Since Microsoft does not publish the specifications of exFAT and its use requires a non-free license, many alternative or older operating systems do not support exFAT for technical or legal reasons. The use of exFAT on some SDXC cards may render SDXC unsuitable as a universal exchange medium, as an SDXC card that uses exFAT would not be usable in all host devices. Since the FAT32 file system supports volumes up to the SDXC's maximum theoretical capacity of 2 TB as well, a user could reformat an SDXC card to use FAT32 for greater portability between computers (see below). FAT32-formatted SDXC cards can be used in a host device built for SDHC if the host device can handle 64GB and larger volumes."

Both the Clip+ and the Clip Zip are on clearance sale here in France.

Seems like new models are on the way.

Can anyone verify this?

How about lyrics display?

 

Is possible to see the lyrics without using the specific plugin?

I mean, with the cover in the background and no plugin executed...

Hi guys, just wanted to ask a few questions, I'm thinking of getting a zip for jogging :)

 

1. Any Westone 4R users here? How is the zip with them? Any hiss?

2. Does Rockboxing give gapless to mp3 files and crossfade?

I'm using a Rockboxed Zip with a 64GB card right now. It works fine. It does come formatted exFat. I used Guiformat to change it to Fat32.

With Rockbox, 64GB cards work great. However, in the original OS (I read that) there is a file number limit that you will bump up against if you use MP3s and fill the card.

i may ask some fellow member to send me a 64g micro...here in Brazil a the same micro sd should be more or less 130-150 dollars...

Thanks for confirming 64gb micro support, I'll be getting a couple of those in the next few months. My 2 Zips are already full, both have a 32GB card and the internal memory is also full. The joy of lossless.

anybody having extracting file failure when updating rockbox on thier zip lately?

If you can get the bootloader installed, I think you can just download, extract and then drag the rockbox components folder into the clip root manually. Is your clip in MSC usb mode? May not have a destination to write or drag to if not.

I couldn't say....I haven't updated mine in a while. It works, so I don't update it all that often.

I updated mine 2 days ago with the Rockbox Utility (on Mac OS X though) and it went just fine. I'm not sure what "Creating output path failed" means, sorry.

Unlike the Clip+, I understand the ClipZip needs to change the album art, requiring a delay, before being able to hear another track. Any truth to this?
