Any vocal trance addicts in here?

Thread Starter

I primarily listen to vocal trance music.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the VOCAL TRANCE stream at www.di.fm.

Anyway, this question is for fellow vocal trance addicts:

What IEMs are you currently using?

Thanks.

(Please don't confuse vocal trance with straight up trance, techno, house, etc.)

i enjoy vocal trance, but i don't think a 96kbs station does it justice...  just saying.  i'm using ath-ck10s.  they were arguably made for this purpose.

GR07, EX1000, SM3, MTP Copper, GR10 and EQ-7.

I love vocal trance (listening to it as I type this).

I use Future Sonics Atrio's for Trance and Vocal Trance. I love how well the Atrio's present vocals, especially Female Trance, just sounds awesome! The bass is also something special on the Atrio's and the highs are luscious without any fatigue!

hence i pay a little extra for 256kbs. quite like IE-8 as well as ER-4S with bass boost depending on mood. waiting for the dust to settle surrounding the JH-3A controversy before jumpin on that bandwagon

I'm a trance fanatic and that genre shines magnificently through my Westone ES5's. smile.gif

Vocal trance connoisseur, at your service. Amongst my top favorites, in no particular order:

RE262: midrange that's musical in every way conceivable, give a whole new meaning to the very word 'vocal'

SM3: perfect blend of powerful lows, lush mids, and an extremely intimate presentation

SE535: a tad towards the bright side of things, albeit excellent midrange, with prominent lows

MDT: slightly mid-centric, lives up to it's name as a bass MONSTER, very fun all around signature

Atrio M5 (mg7): mids/treble fall right into place, with exceptional sub-bass, unlike any other in-ear within it's price range

EX600/EX1000: my most preferred all around signature/presentation, which I find void of any appreciable flaws, great soundstage/headstage, though compromises on isolation (albeit a worthy compromise IMO)

GR07: virtually 'do no wrong' signature, with the perfect blend of highs, mids, and lows, great soundstage width/depth, absolute best bang for the buck IMO, great emphasis on lows

The ones shown in bold are the ones currently in my possession.

DISCLAIMER: I began my Head-Fi journey strictly in search of an cans/earphones intended almost exclusively for trance, progressive, EDM, and what have you, and I'm certainly nowhere near the end. Of the aforementioned, nothing brings me a feeling quite like the 3 I've currently in my possession. I'm completely dumbfounded as to which I'd prefer most at the end of the day, since they are each very unique in their own right, and sound equally as enjoyable with just about any track I A/B them against. The EX1000 remains the most technically proficient in-ear I've heard, while the SM3 the most mesmerizing of the 3, and the GR07, the absolute best value around. biggrin.gif

I should have specified a preferred price of $100-150. Only the Atrios come close to this from what I can tell.

My TF10s are also great for vocal trance; it's just too bad they are so uncomfortable (in one ear anyway).

What about the new 012 bass PFEs? I wonder if they would improve at all from my 112s or if I should just try the green filters?

You can get the EX600 for $130 on Amazon... I would go with that if I were you; they're one of the best IEM I've ever had the pleasure to own. The GR07 seems to be going up in price if I'm not mistaken.

if that's the case, then the EX600 and Atrio receive my highest recommendations, in which case I'd heavily prefer the EX600. The Atrio's unmatched for it's sub-bass, but the EX600 simply does it all, and does it all very well!
