Lee Weiland, who on Head-Fi was known for his often praised cables and wire (such as the TWAG used by Whiplash Audio), passed away in his sleep on the 19th according to the above article. Regardless of anything, he was a very nice guy.

I'll miss him when I go to Denver this year and want to pass along a link that Marjorie from RMAF has set up to assist Lee's wife, Robin, after his passing. Robin has cancer and really could use the audio communities support. So if you can help out that would be great even if it is just to pass along your condolences but a donation would really mean a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully the link as Marjorie of RMAF and Josh of Sonic Weld captured Lee's spirit really well.

Best wishes

That is terrible news, my thoughts and deepest condolences go to his family.  I had nothing but good experience in dealing with him and using his excellent products.  He will be sorely missed.

He will be missed.  I had the good fortune of meeting Lee at last years CanJam / RMAF where he was a panelist on what they saw as the future for the audio industry.  Jude was also one of the panelist as well.  Lee provided some insightful commentary.  I have also followed Audioevo.org and Lee was an early adopter of that site and provide his input and humor with his comments there as well.  Lee was also a good friend to ChiUniFi IV last year.

My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends as he touched a lot of lives.

This tragedy struck me deeply when I found out about it yesterday, and I have been in mourning ever since.  He was a good friend and business associate, and I corresponded with him via e-mail almost daily.  I am still in shock over this, and my deepest condolences go out to his family, who is also in a terrible spot because his wife has brain cancer.  He was younger than I thought, at only 46 years of age.  It is a tragic loss when such a good and honorable person who was under tremendous amounts of stress for a long time now passes.  He was an asset to the industry at large and helped many of us out on an individual basis.  More importantly, humanity has lost a wonderful and kind person.

You will be greatly missed, Lee.

I also just received news of his passing 2 days ago. A page on Audioevo is being set up to help his family get through these tough times. RIP Lee

Lee was a mentor to me and a go to guy in this industry, besides the obvious common interests he was just a neat person to talk to.  There's no replacement for him...but I will do anything I can to help.

This is so sad to hear. As far as I knew my health was worse than his, and I'm three years older and still here. We had some nice conversations at RMAF last year, and he was going to re-terminate my Hyperion cable for me to balanced after this years RMAF. It's my favorite HD-800 cable, but now I won't let anyone else touch it. I want to leave it just the way he made it, in his memory.

I am sad for his family and close friends, and will keep them in my prayers. This reminds us all of how fragile life is, and we all don't get to live as long as we want. While he was here I know he made the world a better place.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and support for Lee and his family; I'm so grateful!  I realize it's probably impractical for most of you, but the funeral service will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., and anyone is invited.  The address is:

LDS Chapel
870 E Canyon Rd
Spanish Fork, UT 84660

This is also the address to use if you wish to send flowers or the like, although I might suggest sending a donation to his family instead - they have great need after the passing of their husband and father.  Marjorie will be placing a donate link on the RMAF site very soon which can be used for this purpose.

People here will be interested to know that I'll be setting up an audio system for Lee at his service, and his favorite tracks will be playing.

Oh my, so sad & I just emailed him last week, now I understand why he did not reply. He was the best person I ever dealt with in the HiFi trade, so helpful & gave me such an amazing deal & service I wanted to deal only through his Co. Never realized he was the owner,  I will miss him greatly, may he RIP.

I'm very sad to hear this news. I had several dealings with Lee, and he was a lovely guy, knowledgeable and generous -- a real gent. Here's best wishes for his family.
