NuForce Icon HD or HDP?

hello there,

i am new to using amps/DACs...actually thinking of getting my first one, i am planning to buy sennheiser HD650 & intend to use it with my MacBook Pro & iPhone...then i read that i needs an amp, upon searching i came across the above two products with lot of positive review( just wanna try something which has been tried & tested and is good :)

so for my use which of the product i mentioned above is recommended.

 

P.S.- i was thinking of using the DAC functionality through the apple camera kit with us out or FiiO L3.

I have the Icon HD and I can vouch for the sound.  The DAC makes everything sound much more detailed and helps tremendously with instrument separation.  The AMP is also a very good value for the money and should have plenty of power to drive the HD650's.  I use the HD with my PC desk-top and have speakers connected to it.  I'm not doing anything fancy, so I can't really help about the camera kit.  The HDP is much more flexible in terms of connections and also gives you a pre-amp for the extra dollars.  The optical connection is also a nice feature on the HDP.  My PC is older and doesn't have an optical connection so the HD was sufficient for me there.  The all-in-one DAC/Amp appealed to me from a simplicity standpoint, because I am also new at this.
