Any programs to convert mp3 to wma lossless?

Hello everyone, I have a zune HD 16 Gb, but my biggest problem is the files I have on it. They are all mp3. I want to convert my files to wma lossless. I would like to have some sort of program do it for me. I have tried other programs, but they want to charge money, or limit to the amount of songs I convert. Does anybody know a free program that will work well?

I really do not want to use fubar, because I already have enough media programs on my computer. Any recommendations would be great, thanks.

All that would do is increase the file size. You won't improve the sound quality, or add missing data back into the file. Once lossy, always lossy.

So there is pretty much no hope for my files?

Nope. frown.gif You would have to re-rip the files in lossless (Apple Lossless, FLAC, WMA Lossless, etc.) from the CD or redownload the tracks in a lossless format.

going from lossy to lossless is a very bad idea, as Head Injury said already, you will increase the files size a lot more, loss more data which will make your music worse.

Depends on what you mean by "hope". If they're a high bitrate and/or variable bitrate, you probably wouldn't hear the difference anyway. There's no hope of you getting the lost bits back, though, which is why it's always a good idea to start with a lossless format and re-encode it later as you see fit.

^ eaglerock, you only lose more data if you encode from lossy to lossy. Encoding from lossy to lossless will retain all of the data from the lossy file, just make it bigger. Basically, whatever you encode to lossy will get worse, whatever you encode to lossless will stay the same.

You can't turn a used product into a brand new sealed product.
