iPod to external DAC?

Hi everyone, this is my first thread and I want to start by saying say how great and informative this site has been with my new found hobby :)

My question is, I just recently bought the Matrix mini DAC for my PC but would also like to connect my iPod video to it, how would you guys recommend doing this?  My guess is it would be through some sort of LOD rca cable? Any feedback would be appreciated :) thanks!

Unfortunately, there would be no improvements what-so-ever. The DAC on the iPod can only be bypassed with a special chip. triportsad.gif I don't think I've ever heard of someone using a RCA cable but I don't think its going to work. The internal amp in your amp ipod however, can be bypassed using a LOD.

I was thinking of getting either a LOD rca cable or a dock with rca out  to connect to the DAC

I read that from somewhere that the iPod has a special chip that stops you from doing digital out or something. Only solutions out there are the amps and DACs with special chips in them, like the pure i20 or the CLAS.
