Help Please!! Trying to clean up audio out from TV headphone jack

Hello fellow Head-fiers,

Please could you help me 'fix' this problem? I recently wall mounted a Samsung tv (d6000) above my fireplace and connected my KRK speakers via headphone jack to RCAs. The sound is infinitely better than the TVs but unfortunately there's a hissing noise coming from the speakers. This hiss is definitely not present coming from other sources (they are monitors after all).

What I'd like to ask is, will running an optical out from the TV and putting in a optical to analog converter solve this problem? I've seen comments on some products saying that dolby 5.1 must be supported. Is this true in my case?

Are there any other options?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried the RCA audio out port at the back of the TV?

The D6000 only has optical out and headphone. No RCAs. Hence the problem.

See if there any setting to disable DTS. If you can disable Dolby, then you can use the digital out as normal SPDIF for 2 channels. If not, then you might want a Dolby supported DAC.

Thank you ClieOS. Are there any DACs that you could recommend for the task that won't break the bank?

If it is just normal 2 channels DAC, you can either get a FiiO D3 (around $30) or some of the relatively cheap offering on eBay. Don't really know much about DTS supported DAC, but I guess they won't be cheap.
