Removable Cable Mod for MDR-V6? (advice/suggestions needed!) - Page 2

So the techflex made the cable microphonic even though you had jacketed Canare under there.  I never knew that's what people meant when describing techflex microphonics.  I always thought they meant that recabling with techflex is microphonic because the individual conductors are within, sans physical damping.  Like, three conductors with a nylon sleeve over it, as opposed to an extruded cable with a nylon sleeve over it.  That much was never stated explicitly before now AFAIK.

I learned something new today.

Glad I cleared that up lol. I think it's because it's made of such a rigid and hard material (plastic?) and the braided strands of the techflex rubbing against one another caused cable noise. If you're looking for a good sleeve, nylon multifilament or cotton would probably be much better, probably even better than having just cable because my cable still has some microphonics (with no sleeve). Haven't tried either material yet though.

Ideally you'd want your sleeve loose to minimized microphonics, but this makes it look sloppy aesthetically and not a lot of people like that look.
