Would a Audio Interface improve sound quality on Studio Monitors?

Lets say a M-audio fast track pro through some studio monitors like the M-Audio Av40 or BXa5

In my experience, yes. The sound was much better through my Lexicon Lambda vs sound card. Having said that, I ultimately found it best to run from soundcard to Nano Patch then to monitors via balanced cabling.

Sorry, don't mean to steal a thread or anything, but I sort of have the same question, except I have the old M-Audio FastTrack USB, this one right here.  I will be using the AV40s.  If this would sound better than the Xonar D1, than I'll just use this and save the money.
