Best solid state amp for Denon AH-D7000s

Thread Starter

So I just recently upgraded my headphones to the Denon's and am absolutely loving them.  However, my audiophilia nervosa is acting up again, and I'm starting to wonder if my channel island VHP-2 is the best match for them.  I'm thinking of either getting the VAC-1 external power supply for the VHP-2 or upgrading to a better solid state amp.  I am considering:

headamp GS-1
rockhopper m^3
musical fidelity M1HPA
BC hat peed thingee 2

Has anyone either compared any of these with the VHP-2, or heard the VHP-2 with the addition of the VAC-1 power supply?

Thanks, greatly appreciated

The Beta 22/Sigma Q22 with 2X gain is just about perfect...

X2, I'm getting a balanced version to replace my HA-160D (which is very good with D7000 already)

if it matters, I'm kind of in the same boat and am looking hard at the GS-1, of course, you'll need a great dac as well.......head-fi, where the fun never ends!

Right now I've got an eastern electric DAC, but always looking to upgrade if something better comes along

Denons make wonderful music with both Sigma 22/Beta 22, and the M^3, same designer basically.   In fact I like the M^3 just as much with Denon low impendance, very hard for me to tell the difference.

My Sigma 22/Beta 22, and my M^3, were both build by Ying at YBM Audio, an approved builder (like Rockhopper).

If you go for one of these, do be sure to check out www.ybmaudio.com ... Ying is GREAT!!!

The Burson maybe good with D7000 and LCD-2 but beta22 is much better.  Once I heard the LCD-2 out 2 channel beta22, I know it is the amp I want for all my headphones that does better with SS than tubes.

Really thinking about pulling the trigger on the musical fidelity M1 HPA.  Seems like a muscular/dynamic amp that will work well with the Denon's because of the low output impedance.  Supposedly it can drive virtually anything.  What do you guys think?  Wise choice?
