Getting high quality sound to my desk speaker jack

I've got an Asus Sonar DX soundcard and AD-700s with the cable cut down to three feet. I need to get that high quality audio from my soundcard to my desk, where I can plug in the headphones, with the least degradation in sound quality possible. I'm considering getting some really cheap speakers (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836113026) because I usually use my headphones anyway, but I'm concerned that the cheap jack in the speakers might result in degradation. Thoughts?

Why not get a 1/8 headphone splitter so you can plug both headphones and speaker in, then you don't have to worry yourself with the electronics in a $20 speaker? I think that would be money better spent if you don't want to keep unplugging things.

Well my headphone cables are too short to reach the back of the pc tower now so I need to get it to the front of my desk somehow.

You know, actually, you're right about the splitter. Those speakers I want don't have an output jack, it's just an auxiliery input. Now where do I find a high quality splitter and male/female extension so I don't lose any audio quality there?
