Headphone stand concept

Thread Starter

A friend recently preformed an engine swap on his Nissan 300zx. With the junk engine we were talking about some ways to counter its cost and maybe make a little profit for the upcomming fall semester. We were thinking that turning the pistons into head phone stands would be pretty cool. We would media blast the pistons, wrist pins, and connecting rods then weld the rod, pin and piston so that the piston becomes the base and the connecting rod without the cap becomes the cradle for the headphones. Does anyone have any suggestions or interest? If there is sufficent interest we would make one and post pics. If any one has any ideas for other audio related stuff related to an engine just let me know. Maybe the crank could hold multiple cans?

I am a fan of custom art pieces and could use another headphone stand. I can't say I would buy one. It depends on what it would cost and how well I thought it would support my headphones. I think there are too few options currently available for top notch headphone stands. The engine may be more valuable if you just tripped it and sold the parts off, but it you plan on playing with the parts you should definitely post pictures.

Not only am I a head-fi'er....I'm also a NICO'er, and currently own a '90 240sx. SO if you do something with this I'd REALLY love to know/see. The piston idea seems cool, but a little complex. I like the idea with the crank though. Maybe incorporate the VG's little valve cover in somewhere? Regardless of what it is, it'll probobly be heavy....reallly heavy.

That's a good idea.

Which reminds me, there's a dead 13B rotor in the garage. I've been trying to think of something to do with it. It might make a nice base for a headphone stand.

You guys just gave me an idea. I've got a bull bar sitting in my garage from my Jeep.
