Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium (600 ohm) = Pro?

Hey all!

So, I'm aware of the distinct possibility that this question has been asked and answered like 8 million times before, but after some light searching I couldn't find the answer to my specific question - so here I am!

I've decided on getting the DT880s, and I would like to get the Pro model with the 600 ohm impedance. However, I can only find the "DT880 Premium 600 ohm" online, as opposed to the DT880 Pro. I know that there are different generations of DT880, but I'm not familiar with Beyer's nomenclature, so I'm not sure - are these "Premium" models equivalent to the "Pro" model, or am I just looking for love Beyers in all the wrong places?

For example, on Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/Beyer-Dynamic-Premium-600-Headphones/dp/B0024NK35S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313807822&sr=8-1

If Premium and Pro models are different, as I suspect, could anyone point me in the right direction to find the Pro 600 ohm model?

Any help would be much appreciated. (:

Pro are the older, worst model

Premium is the 2005 update that fixed the lumpy bass, detailed the mids and made a little clearer

Well that was easy. Thanks man.

Also, understand that more Ohms mean that it's harder to drive and needs a amp that just more. The 32 ohm version is best to start out. Don't buy a amp if this is your first can.

Are you sure about that mate? I looked around the Beyerdynamic website and the Premium is nowhere to be found. The Pros are present though and in stores, they cost more than the Premiums.

Pro's are for studio use, tighter seal on the ears.

Premium are more for consumers, lighter clamping then the Pros.

Premiums cost more then Pros for the same features.

How about getting the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 250-Ohm and use the saving on a decent headphone amplifier.

The DT-770 is a closed headphone. :)

Also recommend looking at Tyll's DT-880 comparo on www.innerfidelity.com.

I thought I heard a bigger difference between 250 ohm and 600 ohm but could have been samples or some sort of impedance issue with the amp I used.

I've gone there, but it doesn't have comparisons between the Pro and the Premium.
