Best seats in a Jazz concert?

I am about to buy tickets for an upcoming Jazz concert. What are the best seats for audiophiles? Below is the seating chart. Thanks for your input.

I don't know how scientifically accurate this is, but I usually like the middle towards the front.

If there's a piano, I'll get seats towards the side where I can see the pianist's hands on the keyboard. More fun to watch. smily_headphones1.gif (It's not entirely about the sound.)

For the experience, I like being closer to the front - but it all depends on the sound system. If you're in an acoustic space, closer is better. If you're in an amplified space, the best sound will be closer to the mixing board, for obvious reasons. For jazz, it's nice to get a mix of ambient sounds and the monitors - about halfway between the front of the stage and the monitors.

Toward the middle front, as said above. Those are the only seats i will buy, since its useless to get tickets otherwise where you cant see and cant hear very well.

For sound go as close to the front middle but back 2 rows.  This is because of the angle off the speakers they "should" have setup.

For looks go as close as possible to the instrument you like to see.  For me I like the stand up bass so I always try to sit as close to it as possible.

If you ever get a chance, and you have not seen them, go see the the Squirrel Nut Zippers.  They are Ragtime jazz with a Vaudeville presentation.  Awesome from just about anywhere in an 800 person or fewer venue.
