Cool!  Maybe we can work out a time to meet up or something.  I should be in Bellevue Thursday next week.  Think we may be switching to Fridays out there, but I'm not sure when that will happen.

Been doing more listening, and still really liking the BADA and LF.  There's a lot more treble presence, but it's not fatiguing...at least in the half hour to hour listening sessions I've done.  Not even really close to fatiguing.  And the bass extension is nice too.  Not boomy, but definitely adds to the presence.  I was telling sachu a few days ago that there was some songs that actually made the LCD-2's slightly vibrate from the bass response.  Haven't had that happen before.

The LF is sounding incredible. I don't own hi-end headphones like the LCD2 or HE6 or HD800 but guess what?: The headphones that sound the best out of the three I own are the K701s. Some people feel that the 701s are too neutral and lack bass, but with the LF they are incredible. The bass comes out and is presented very nicely and the highs seem to be a bit more refined--there's that sparkle and shimmer. And I agree that the highs are not fatiguing at all.

I actually liked the K701's that I heard a while back at a meet when it was driven off a modded WA6SE, so it probably is pretty dependent on the setup.  I haven't liked them nearly so much on any other setup I've heard them on.  My impression of that headphone is that it doesn't specialize in giving you that big thumping bass, which is what a lot of people seem to think of as "bass", but with the right rig you get good quality down in that area.  Maybe you've happened upon one of those "right rigs".  Heh.

I will try my K701's tonight with my LF.

With my WA5LE the K701's sounded good, but with my WA6SE maxed I could not use for more than 30 minutes before I started to get a headache.

that doesn't surprise me about the k70x.

they scale up quite well.  and, if you like that "tuneful" bass response, there's not a whole lot better headphone out there besides the HE-6.

so....  guess what, guys?

just paid for a Liquid Fire.

Should have it by monday at the latest.

this amp better be good!  tongue.gif

'cuz you guys haven't shut up about it!

After just trying my stock K701's with my LF I am impressed with the K701's for the price. Yes the K701's sound a little thin compared to the HE6's, also the sound-stage and direction, depth are better with the HE6's. That said the K701's are a lot of fun, very nice dynamic range, sound-stage and what really surprises me is the smoothness of the K701's with the LF..

Great to hear. Unfortunately I do not own the HE-6 or the LCD-2 to compare with the K701. Or any headphone outside of the HD650 or DT990. But I will at some point. I think I am leaning toward the HE-6. But then again, all I have to do is read about someone's experience with the LCD and then.... So I have to get at least on of them at some point.

For you proud new LF owners, what would you say this amp competes against in a similar price+performance tier?  Preferably an amp that's known to drive the HD800 and LCD2 Rev2 well :)
