FiiO E7 with iPhone 4, or Cowon C2?

Thread Starter

Hi there.

Trying to decide on whether to get an FiiO L9 for my iPhone 4, then use it with the E7, or get a Cowon C2.

Cowon C2 has long battery life.

However would I be getting better sound quality and saving money if I just simply got the L9 to use with the E7 (which I already own)?

Also while I'm at it I'm looking for portable headphones that sound good.

I've been looking at the ATH-M50S. Is it a good choice for this sort of setup?

Thanks for the inputs.

Can't speak for the iPhone 4 but I've used a J3 which has the same audio quality, and with the J3 you wouldn't really find a difference with amping it aside from making it louder. So with the C2 you'd just need to play with the EQ (presets get old) till you find what you like.

You might find that the ATH-M50S has an uncomfortably long cable as well, but the sound quality is great from what I'm told.

The iPhone 4 with AMPs will sound better than C2 because it has line out (audio signal are cleaner) with AMPs it's even sound more detailed yet powerful than C2. BTW if you are using AMPs with iPhone 4 and PC then E7+E9 combo is better and if not then E11 is better AMPs(more powerful and detailed than E7) for portable use.
