MOG Music Streaming service w/ Kernel Streaming

For those of you who don't know what MOG is; they're like Spotify (imagine iTunes, but you already own all the music), ALL of their music streams in 320kbs, their catalogue is HUGE, and the service is great. MOG is in the process of releasing a desktop client to their service and are taking suggestions on features. I suggested that they add the option to allow Kernel streaming for us PC users. The way they consider wether to take your suggestions into account is based on user votes. Each user is allowed 10 votes and can contribute up to 3 votes to a single feature suggestion. I'm posting here on headfi to try to encourage headfiers to vote for kernel streaming so it makes it into their version 1.0 desktop client. You can click on the link below to go directly to my suggestion on their feedback page and vote. You DO NOT have to subscribe to MOG to vote, but you do have to register (takes about 20 seconds). Please vote.

And we got a response from the dev lead that it will be considered for the desktop app :)

Here's what MOG responded to all our votes:

"Wil consider this for the PC MOG desktop app (where I'm merging this idea), but I'd note that "kernel streaming" does nothing for audio quality, it just enables lower latency, slightly lower CPU usage (on some systems), and some other low-level audio access. NOT going to happen for the browser version of MOG, because it must use the browser's audio implementation."

to which I responded:

"Kernel Streaming on its own may not contribute to sound quality, but it does allow the outboard digital-to-audio converters that we like to use take more total control of the raw digital data without having to get it only after first going through the Windows Mixer."

to which MOG responded:

"Thank you for the perspective. I understand how audiophiles may view the Windows Mixer as detrimental to sound quality. I'll inquire with the developers. I doubt this is particularly difficult. Given that we have a dedicated audio engine for the desktop app and experienced programmers, I do not anticipate this being an issue."

YAY! Until Kernel Streaming is actually a feature in the desktop app, please keep the votes coming! Thanks for all the support. MOG + KS will be a big addition to the audiophile community... next up: lossless and hi-rez? Yeah, that won't come as easily. Anyway, let's first see this one through to fruition!

The beta desktop is getting there, still some bugs, but should be all sorted out....For now the legacy player is doing great.....
