$16,000.00 SPEAKERS

A certain Audio dealer who l know but won't mention,  told me he was asked by a certain Audio company if he would sell their products, and in doing so he would receive 60% profit, after receiving a sample of one of their products and listening to it, he gave them it back and said he wanted nothing to do with them ever again, for legal reasons l won't mention which Audio company it was, the only thing l will say is, is it wasn't Beat phones.

Great video.  Was really cool seeing a small part of the factory and manufacturing process.  Thanks for sharing--would love to see the same for the high-end headphone guys someday.

The speaker video was interesting. KEF isn't my favorite company, but they do make quality products. The headphone article was considerably less interesting. Were high-end headphones even mentioned at all? It seems like 98% of the article was devoted to talking about headphones that are the equivalent of $200 sneakers sold to idiots.

Beats are in no way high end, however the bose quiet comfort 15s are the best noise cancelling headphones in production and should not be dismissed lightly.

The QC15 are very good at noise cancelling, very bad at being headphones. If all you want is to block out noise, then great. If you want to listen to music, there are better choices. I made the trade-off for a bit of noise reduction for much better sound quality with the Denon NC-800, which is one of the best sounding NC headphones I've heard. Still, that's like saying "what a beautiful pig". NC headphones are what you use when you have to put up with a ton of background noise, and there is no alternative. No noise cancelling headphone is in any way audiophile grade.

that's like the starting price for some companies!

You'd be better off spending $6,000 on quality used gear and the other $10,000 on high-quality recordings.

what you said is very true. apple was originally started with $1,000! now it is the biggest company in the world. however, what i was meaning to say was something different entirely. i meant, that for some high end speaker companies that is like the price of their entry level model! i personally feel that is absurd. i bought all my very high end stuff used at a huge loss to the original owners and maybe a big gain to me. if not financially certainly in listening pleasure. buying that stuff new is silly to me. once it is used a couple years it is worth like 1/4 to 1/10th. of what they paid for it many times. in fact i buy every luxury item i own used or at a going out of business sale etc. paying retail for such items does not make much sense to me. unless one had so much money they didn't know what to do with it i suppose. i would never even have considered my gear new. how impressive are the $16,000 speakers when the owner sells them for $2,500? i consider them second hand what they were worth to begin with.

2nd article didn't really say much.  All the gear mentioned does even add up to the 1k stated in the title...

The only trend I've seen with ridiculously-priced speakers is that the higher the price, the worse they look. Really

 

 

I agree, the article had its merit, but it was really discussing low-fi items, that are generally just trendy.
