Upgrade from E7+E9 to Yulong D100? - Page 2

how does the amp in the yulong and the m-stage compare? I read somewhere that they were similiar, but would like to hear from other people too!

m-STage have a much smoother sound compared to D100. Larger soundstage and warmer too. D100 sounds rough and grainy in comparison. But be reminded the differences are not that big. Differences in sound are greater with better cans.

Anymore more D100 users want to chime in?

D100 headphone out sounds unnatural compared to m-Stage :P

Also D100 is slightly dry, cold and analytical IMO

I think it may come off that way because it's very transparent. It was my favorite pair with the D7000 which is naturally more musical.

Its definitely very transparent and colorless sound. But notes can also be sharp without much resonance, which makes it sound slightly unnatural. But if you don't listen really closely you can't really tell. I use the LME49710HA opamps in my m-Stage, which have a more laid back and musical sound and fits the D100 nicely. opa627sm and 637sm costed me big bucks to buy but didn't sound as good as the LME. Their aggressive sound signature and epic transparency really didn't suit the D100.
