Any way they keep their name?

Also, doesn't SDST have a good basketball program? I'm surprised they aren't full members. I guess it would have cost too much to fly.

Good for Boise. About time they get in with the AQs.

I'm happy to see Boise State and SDSU get into a major conference.  I've always liked SDSU and had hoped they'd be put into a PAC-10 expansion.  Actually, I would have liked to have seen the PAC-12 include SDSU and Fresno State instead of Utah and Colorado.  It would have set up some fun rivalries with USC, UCLA, Stanford and Cal.  Fans would be taking road trips all over California.  Oh well.

I wonder if this had somethin to do with Peterson turning down $4M at UCLA.  He wanted a BCS conference.  This way he gets to keep his team and not have to spend 4-5 years rebuilding a program.

Big East East and Big East West. Hm.

San Diego got in because BYU wouldn't surrender the TV rights to their home games. Ka-ching!

Congrats, RG3.
Nice speech from a well spoken kid. Err... Young man.

Hey, I'm still happy for SDSU.  I like seeing another California football program step up.

Congrats to RG3!  Good to see him snag the Heisman and it's a nice boost for Baylor.

Any thoughts on UCLA hiring Mora?  The UCLA fanbase is gnashing teeth, tearing hair and rending their garments.  To say the least.  But I can't draw any conclusions about the guy.  He worked one season as a college assistant and spent something like 24 years in the NFL.  He knows the Xs and Os, but there's no tellin how he'll work with college kids and recruit.  Not necessarily a good or bad thing.  Nobody knows.  He might be good.

I wasn't happy with Carroll or Kiffin at first, either.  Give the guy a chance, he wanted the job.

I wouldn't be the least upset if Mora brings in UCLA at number two in the PAC-12 every year.  :D

RGIII did a good job last night showing the world that there is a difference between the kind of speech you get from a student-athelete at a school like Baylor versus one you get from many large Football U schools.  RGIII is very obviously a smart young man.

RE: Mora to UCLA - the Bruins are in the same boat as the Illini were in the B10.  They have been down long enough that they are not going to get a currently sexy name coach to go there. So the choices are a HC from a mid-major, a big-time program OC or DC, or a very grey haired and unemployed former NFL or major college HC.  UCLA went the latter, UofIll went the former, since they went the latter last time and it didn't work.  So we shall see...

What RG3 didn't show the other night was his acting ability -- Testament to Baylor Drama School!

Just Kidding! I was rooting for him.

Still no Virometal? No wonder I can't think of any creative nicknames for anybody; I'm close to calling the Tide "the fighting Sabans." Ain't got no bowl pickem, ain't got no nothing.

That SMU/Pitt game should be interesting now. I'm the only one to pick SMU so far. . ..

And no offense intended toward our Arizona State fans, but is Pittsburgh really a worse job than ASU?

Edit: I'm also going to give props, win or lose, to the first person who picks Iowa over Oklahoma. Oklahoma seems like it has all sorts of trouble right now. Plus, Kirk Ferentz's teams are always pretty competitive in bowl games, with the exception coming from 2002 Orange Bowl.

The problem is that Iowa has not been all that impressive this year.  When they lost to Mini-Soda, it's tough to see them beating the Sooners.
