I saw an awful, yet good, cult movie yesterday. "House," directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi (1977).

I can't really describe it. I'm going to have to watch it again just to be sure I saw what I think I saw.

This might be some of the purest WTF I've ever seen. Like when a piano eats a girl. That won't ruin anything, there's plenty of WTF throughout, especially in the last 30 minutes. Though it's plenty weird in the first hour, too.

Nobuhiko Obayashi must have been taking some serious psychedelics when he made this. There's no other possible explanation. Well, maybe mental illness. If you enjoy Lynch movies like "Eraserhead" and "Mulholland Dr.," you'll love "House." One of the weirdest movies I've seen and I'm glad I picked it up on Blu-Ray (Criterion offers it.)

I absolutely hated I'm Not There.

In short - the most pretentious piece of sh*t I've ever seen, and the only movie I've ever walked out on. Made me want to claw my eyes out.

Of all the strange Japan movies I've seen this one was both a legend and a movie to finally see after reading about it for so long. I still wonder what much of it was trying to say. Maybe a statement about nuclear bombs and dadaism?1969 was a great year for music and movies. This movie is very slow most of the way but has some fireworks in the middle that seem to be different than anything I have ever seen.

This could be some viewers bad movie but for me it is a gem.
