Output program

Hey guys i was just wondering what program you use to listen to your music on your computer.

right now i dont have a AMP/DAC setup yet but i still would like to know what with a full set up using my computer as a reciever for my audio equipment should i use?

I dont really like iTunes (It never sounds right), i honestly like the stock windows media player because i can change up alot of the sound equalizer and outputs to sound perfect.  But VLC plays .Flac files and dont like switching up players just to listen to a certain albums.

What should I do?

Also: I got annoyed that i converted some of my losless files to mp3 but still have the original files in their native .flac format.  Should i change them back?

My personal main source is a dual booting PC so Windoze = Foobar2k and Ubuntu = VLC though i also use VLC for movies on the former as well beerchug.gif

Wow foobar is great!
Even though i liked winap's ease of use, this might grow on me.  Might take some time to get it perfect.  Anybody know where i can get the basic levels of customizations?

I watched some youtube videos that showed how custom you can get it but does anybody know of a beginner guide or anything?

There are both threads and wikis about it, like this one: http://www.head-fi.org/wiki/foobar2000-appearance-customization-skins-themes-configs

Though, that one is mainly about user interface customization, which you probably should set first to your liking before dwelving further into component customization.

And yes, I very much agree that foobar2000 is an amazing audio player.

Beside Foobar there are other media players you can try for free:

J River Media Jukebox: http://www.jriver.com/mj/

MusicBee: http://www.getmusicbee.com/

I'm big on Foobar, both in its official distribution and pkshan's user-hostile HE variation of it. Every once in a while I'll experiment with XMPlay and uLilith, without yet having formed a definitive opinion about them.
