anakchan-What's the thingy you have your ipoo in, some kind of amp case?  Just curious.

@Project86 ?? Not understanding. I prefer the SQ of the Merlin's.

Looks like my Merlins won't be here until tomorrow... Kinda bummed but on the other hand; I was at a Rammstein concert last night so my ears are pretty much blasted to bits today.

Merlin owners, any of you tried running these off the SR-71B? I'm just listening to Phantom of the Opera & I hear some kind of vibration or rumble. I run the same setup off the Pico Slim & the rumble is more mellowed & controlled. I'm wondering if it's just my Merlin's or if they don't pair well with the SR-71B's.

The Go-DAP OTOH is not as bright (harsh??) as the CLAS/Pico Slim but seems to control the bass the best out of the 3 setups I've got.

I wonder if the Merlin's & slightly warmer or deeper amps don't pair well & prefer brighter amps instead?

Sigh... No Merlins today either. UM UK had e-mailed me at midnight last night to confirm my address before shipping them out. If they had just shipped them as soon as they got them (like we agreed they should) I would have gotten them today, so I could bring them to our Danish Head-Fi meetup tomorrow and try them out with tons of different kit... Man, the delays just never stop coming. 

 

And just for kicks - UM UK wrote me that my Miracles had arrived... I sure as hell hope that was just a typo and that they haven't mixed up my order and gotten the model wrong. I don't know what I'll do if the wrong model arrives after two months of waiting, delays and poor communication but it's NOT going to be pretty.

I really hope it was just a typo. Getting a colour wrong is one thing, but getting the entire model wrong is just ridiculous and unacceptable.

 

I finally heard back from Yusuf and got some spiel about how it will take at least another week as they are "evaluating" the best way to make sure they get the colour change correct. Lol!

Well he got my name wrong in one of the earlier mails (Called me Jukka, my name is Soren...) so I'm really hoping it was nothing but a brain fart. 

 

I just got off the phone with Yusuf and the "Miracles" part was indeed just a brain fart. My Merlins are in London and will be shipped out today, using DHL or FedEX, meaning I'll have them by monday or tuesday at the latest.

 

So, now that we're sure they got me the right model, I'm kinda anxious about colors, artwork and fit... 

 

Man, when I decided on Merlins and ordered them, UM was being hailed for their flawless service and great work. Then for the past two months their otherwise solid rep has just taken a nose dive and now I'm more worried about the look and fit of my customs than I am excited to finally get them.

Well for what it's worth, more people have gotten what they ordered without flaws vs those with flaws. I was one of the unfortunate ones that got flawed Merlins twice but I think they just hate me. It's the only reason I could think of them screwing up a solid black faceplate which I thought would be one of the easier designs to do or they just got lazy.
