FYI dont have IEMs in your ears when you turn on an amp - you get a little ear drum rupturing suprise as the chips warm up...Public service announcement.

 

I have thought all my IEMs were better with a modded D10...so this isnt super suprising.  I like having a volume knob as well.

 

Pretty sure a pair of JH5 were in my future anyways...

Glad to see this thread.  I've been a proponent of amping of most phones for a loooong time regardless of how friendly the specs seem.  One really needs to hear whether or not a difference is worth the added bulk and complexity in their system.  You really can't just look at the specs.  This is all of course predicated on whether the amp in question is transparent enough and whether your phones can reveal the difference.

 

I do think 'amp' should be in the title somewhere.  Maybe J5+amp=JH14.5?

Good call.  Just changed it!

 

I am anxious for another Head-Fier to get this set-up and comment.  You cannot go wrong.  There is literally nothing not to like.
