cd players, amps and headphones, (constructing a rig)

HI all,

I have an old Kenwood Cd player. not sure of the model. I could probably find out if necessary.
it has Stereo rca outputs, but no amp, And I don't own one.
I mainly listen to music using headphones, The are only Samson Sr850's but I am looking to upgrade them in the near future.
the only piece missing then is some sort of amplification (is that correct)
And if this is the case, what sort of amplifier will I require?

I am on a tight budget, so While sound is important, getting this up and running will be a huge improvement on my current cdplayer which has a horrible humming noise, and is very slow to load cds, cycle through tracks etc.

The Cdp is a Kenwood Dp-730

Hello PleasantNoise,

You just need a headphone amp that connects right to it, if your listening will be with headphones.  Many to choose from.  Is the 730 CDP the one with the hum and problems or were you referring to another one?  RCA cables from CDP to amp, that's it.  I'm not familiar with those headphones though.

You just need a budget and go from there...many to choose from...

Cheers

No, The Kenwood is great, but needs an amp, I currently use a small sony cdplayer, which has the humming, and very slow to load tracks.
And, yeah  the pictures are of the cdp, just the rca output.
the headphones are just cheap over-ear headphones, they are dead easy to drive (32ohm) and I haven't come across an mp3 player, computer etc that can't drive them.
but I am looking to upgrade them anyway, so I may well end up with higher impedance, harder to drive headphones.

Any suggestions on  any suitable Headphone amps for under £100? (about 160 USD)
I have looked on the Amp section, but its hard to sift through all the high end and expensive amps to find anything suitable.

Would the Fiio E9 be a good option? its cheap,  but doesn't appear to have an Rca line in? only line out, so Would I need and Rca to 3.5mm connector?
Any and all suggestions are welcome
