I'll post some pics tonight when I get home. I have been enjoying my "new" ipod at work quite a bit. Absolutely no issues so far. The battery life is much better than what it used to be. I also got a lot of compliments regarding it's new look.

The mods were extremely easy to do! All you need are the parts, the tools and a little patience.

The pictures really don't do it justice. It emphasizes the dust and fingerprints. It looks much better and cleaner in person.

Subscribe. I would like to upgrade to a 256K SSD on the 7G for use with the CLAS. Just too expensive right now...

Can I ask a couple of Questions..

1) Can you link where you bought the drive

2) What was your original iPod Video.. the 30 or 80g? (the normal or fat one)

edit: saw your back plate 60gig.. is that the same thickness as the 30 or is it the same thickness as the 80gig

Does it only fit in a fat iPod Video (60-80GB) or will it just fit in a slim (30GB) too? I know the CF in the CF to ZIF adapter combo is better kept together in the slim, but what about the ZIF SSD?

No...it should fit in the regular slim version too.

Just wondering whats the advantage for using SSD in ipv?

It only has a faster speed for transferring music, but nothing to do with the sound right..?

For me, it's the robustness of solid state over moving parts.

For info, I've just spent money on a refurbished 30Gb (i.e. thin) iPod Video, and one of these:
